We know everyone is TIRED of 2020!We can certainly relate.

3. We'll attach it to the event bib # & place it in the burn pit.
4. Amarillo Fire Department will light it up, send 2020 on its way, & help us usher in a new year.

Where Will the Money Go?
24 Hours in the Canyon Cancer Survivorship Center to License Groundbreaking Program to Combat Chemo Brain
"Chemo Brain" is a sort of mental fog that affects a patient's overall cognitive function, and up to 75% of cancer patients have experienced it during their treatment. Unfortunately, there is no known cure for this treatment side effect. We are going to partner with Cedars Sinai in Los Angeles, California to license a new wellness and resilience program they've recently developed called Emerging from the Haze. This 6-week rehabilitation course helps patients cope with the effects of chemo brain and is the first of its kind. Because the Cancer Survivorship Center will be offering this course, it will be available at no charge to anyone who lives in the Texas Panhandle, regardless of where they received their treatment.
Amarillo Fire Department to Purchase New Training Tower
Training is a regular activity for any Fire Department. AFD's current training tower is located at the Amarillo College East Campus near the old airbase. This new, open-air drill tower, will be installed at Station 13 (45th between Bell & Coulter) because the crews there specialize in high-angle and confined space rescue. Additionally, there will be an area for vehicle extrication exercises as well as multiple other scenarios. Finally, by having this new tower at Station 13, it will enable the entire department to work on their skills while maintaining coverage for the city.
